Overview

The individuals who are studying, training and starting out in the civil engineering industry today will have a vital role to play in the net zero challenge. It is this generation who will face the reality of living most of their adult lives with the increasing impacts of climate change. And they will also be the leaders of tomorrow, with the opportunity to make a difference for current and future generations.

‘Shaping Zero: Next generation South West’ will focus on how young engineers are responding to the climate emergency and how their passion for sustainability is translating into actions and choices as they build their careers.

During this special online event, Rachel Skinner, ICE President will be joined by a graduate, student, and apprentice from the South West region to discuss what they are learning and doing on the ground towards to carbon reduction. The webinar will also explore what more needs to be done to equip and empower young engineers to respond to the world’s carbon problem.

The event is aimed at civil engineering students, apprentices and early career professionals in the South West who will get the opportunity to ask the President and the panel questions and share their own experiences and opinions on the net zero challenge.

It is one of a series of online events as part of the 2021 ICE Presidential Visit to the South West region.
