Overview
This talk will highlight what a Geotechnical Engineer does and how he fits into the project team. It will also present the wide range of techniques used by Geotechnical Engineers to investigate, design and monitor foundations and other sub-surface works for a wide range of projects, both in Malaysia and elsewhere in SE Asia based on the author’s personal experiences in the region. In conclusion the author will offer some insights into the causes of some of the more common failures that he has witnessed during his more than 40 years in the business.
