Overview
Join this webinar with John Osborne. He will discuss civil engineering studies and future plans for a 100km successor to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN including on-site investigations.
CERN is currently investigating the feasibility of a future collider - the Future Circular Collider (FCC) as a potential successor of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This 100 km long tunnel will straddle the French/Swiss border in the Geneva region. The tunnel needs to be positioned within the most favourable geology, which is mostly made up of moraines, molasse and limestone. It is envisaged that site investigations could start in 2022 to support the tunnel design and to allow the start of civil engineering around 2030.
