About this event

Scottish Water is currently constructing a 3.1 mile-long waste water tunnel which is 4.7 metres in diameter – wide enough to drive a double-decker bus through – underneath the streets of the southern part of Glasgow.

This landmark undertaking is part of the biggest upgrade of the city's waste water network in more than a century and, as a result, it features as the flagship project of Scottish Water's £250m Capital Investment as part of the Glasgow Environmental Programme.

On completion, the tunnel will help to improve water quality in the River Clyde and its tributaries and reduce flooding issues at key locations throughout the city. The Shieldhall Tunnel Project is well underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

Come along to this event to hear from Dominic Flanagan Scottish Water's Senior Project Manager, who is leading the Shieldhall Strategic Tunnel Project through to completion, and representatives from Costain-VINCI Construction Grands Projects Joint Venture, who are responsible for the construction of the Tunnel itself. Costain and VINCI have both been involved in some of the world's major and most prominent projects in the past, including the Channel Tunnel.

Registration from 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.
