About this event

With its increased treatment capacity from 400,000 cu m/day to 800,000 cu m/day, part of the existing Sha Tin Water Treatment Works' load will be taken up in supplying fresh water to a significant part of Kowloon and the Central and Western districts on Hong Kong Island. The project will enhance the overall resilience and reliability of the water supply system in Hong Kong.

This contract comprises mainly the upgrading of existing facilities and construction of additional water treatment components to increase treatment capacity of the existing Tai Po WTW. It includes increasing the pumping capacity of the existing Tai Po Tau No. 4 Raw Water Pumping Station and Tai Po Fresh Water Pumping Station, etc. The works are scheduled for completion in 2017.

During the visit, participants will learn more about the design, construction challenges of the expansion works and different types of fittings, water stop, water tightness test and welding of large stainless steel pipes.
