Tung Chung New Town Extension (TCNTE)
The Tung Chung New Town Extension (TCNTE) is a development project aims to develop the city into a comprehensively planned new town. The TCNTE project will provide more than 1,000,000m2 gross floor area (GFA) for residential or commercial purposes. Land in the extension area is reserved for the construction of recreational educational and community uses. Upon the completion of TCNTE project, it is anticipated that Tung Chung can inhabit an increase of population up to 269,500 from 98,000 currently.
The TCNTE project mainly includes reclamation works for about 130 hectares of land using the deep cement mixing (DCM) technology. The building of new land includes construction of associated seawall and eco-shoreline for the development of TCNTE at Tung Chung East and a primary distributor road (Road P1). During the visit to TCNTE, participants will be enriched by a briefing on the adopted ground treatment techniques and a boat trip to explore how the construction technologies are applied in the reclamation works.
