About this event

Join Chairman of ICE North East’s Heritage Panel, Michael Taylor, who trained as a Newcastle City Guide, to explore some of the familiar and unfamiliar aspects of Newcastle. The walk will commence at 10.30am at the statue of Cardinal Basel Hume outside St Mary’s Cathedral near the Central Station and finish at the Gateshead Millennium Bridge some 1½ to 2 hours later.

Those attending will need a reasonable level of mobility.

Michael Taylor

Michael is a Chartered Civil Engineer, Past Chairman of the North Eastern branch and Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and is a member of the Panel for Historical Engineering Works, Chairman North East Heritage Panel, and Past Chairman ICE NE Senior's Group.

He is a Trustee, Exhibitions Curator, Newsletter Editor and Webmaster of the Robert Stephenson Trust.

Michael was chairman of the Millennium Ponteland Pele Tower Restoration Group and is Vice Chairman, Magazine Editor and webmaster of Ponteland Local History Society.
