The completion of the Tilbury 2 Design & Build Project marked a significant milestone in the expansion of the Port of Tilbury, London. Located on the north bank of the river Thames, this £106M project was categorised as a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’ under the Planning Act 2008 due to the quantity of goods that can be exported/imported from the Port. The new development comprises;
The facility was designed to accommodate vessels with a capacity of over 96,000 deadweight tonnage (carrying capacity) and length up to 250m. The Marine Works included;
Doran Consulting was appointed by Principal Contractor GRAHAM as the Lead Designer for the permanent and temporary Marine Works.
The facility is operated by Forth Ports in partnership with P&O and currently services the Tilbury-Zeebrugge freight route bringing vital supplies to the UK.
Des is an Engineering Manager at GRAHAM and has more than 25 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry. During this time, Des has worked at a variety of levels of site and technical management in the contracting industry. He has extensive experience in highway and marine works with a particular focus on Design and Build projects.
Fraser is an Associate at Doran Consulting and manages a team of experienced Civil and Marine Design Engineers in the delivery of complex coastal and maritime projects from conception, through design and obtaining statutory approvals, to procurement and contract administration (/project management). Fraser is member of PIANC and is currently the Vice Chair of the UK Steel Piling Group.
