Overview

Members of the ICE Bristol City Club will be joining one of the public guided tours of St Nicholas Market and a World War II air raid shelter to explore some of Bristol’s hidden history and architectural heritage.

You’ll descend into a network of underground passageways and discover the original air raid shelters beneath the city. These historic tunnels include blast doors etched with notes from the original chief engineer, F. Faraday, providing a rare glimpse into Bristol’s wartime resilience and engineering legacy. Later, the bunkers became hidden venues for Bristol’s vibrant underground music scene.

The tour concludes with a rooftop walk above St Nicholas Market, offering panoramic views of Bristol’s cityscape, including landmarks old and new. It’s a great chance to see the city from a different perspective.

The tour is open to ICE members as well as friends and family. It is part of a public group experience.

Please wear sturdy walking shoes as some areas are uneven or narrow underground.

The meeting point and times will be provided in the confirmation email by the organisers.

Booking and payment is via www.st-nickstours.com

Adult tickets cost £15.
