Overview

Three North Wales based aspiring engineers will make brief presentations relating to a range of infrastructure projects on which they have recently gained first-hand design and construction experience.

  • Rory Jones will give a 15 minute presentation on his involvement as a sub-agent on the Bryn Cowlyd WTW scheme in Dolgarrog, North Wales with a Q&A opportunity at the end.
  • Beth Griffiths will give a 15 minute presentation based on her involvement as a site supervisor on the Penrhos Road Active Travel Scheme in Bangor, North Wales with a Q&A opportunity at the end. 
  • Jared Humphries will talk about the design of a steel footbridge for the Holyhead ferry terminal on Anglesey focusing on the specific requirements and challenges of this project with a Q&A at the end.

Jarad Humphries

Jared is a project engineer at Cadarn Consulting Engineers with a BEng in Civil Engineering.

He is currently an EngTech member of the ICE and is working towards his IEng on the Cadarn ICE Company Approved Training Scheme. 

He has over 7 years’ experience in the industry working on a range of structural engineering projects from small domestic renovations to large scale civil engineering projects.

Rory Jones

Rory has been a member of the ICE since 2008 and received IEng level membership in 2014.

He completed a Post Grad MSc in 2017, research project on a potential hydroelectricity scheme.

Rory has undertaken client, design and contracting roles throughout his career, focussed mainly in the water industry.

In 2019 Rory established his own contracting business - Johnson Jones Civil & Mechanical Engineering Ltd.

Beth Griffiths

Beth has been a member of the ICE since 2018 and recently received an EngTech Level Membership. She completed a HNC in Civil Engineering in 2020 and is currently studying a BEng Civil Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University. Beth gathering evidence, ready to submit her IEng application upon completion of her degree.

Beth works as an Assistant Engineer for YGC. She has worked within the industry since leaving school in 2018 and has gained experience working on exciting civil engineering projects such as flood alleviation schemes, active travel schemes, bridge refurbishments and town centre improvements. Beth has gained on site experience whilst studying towards her qualifications. Beth has significant experience for someone at the early stage of their career and she enjoys sharing her experiences with other students.
