Overview

The Building Safety Act became law in 2022. It followed the Hackitt Review set up in response to Grenfell Tower fire disaster in June 2017, which claimed the lives of 72 people.

This talk will provide an overview of the act and an update on recent changes across the UK's building safety legislation. 

Join Sebastian, Sian and Lianne from law firm, Ashfords for an informative presentation, including relevant case studies, covering: 

  • The Building Safety Act and changes to the Building Regulations
  • Defective Premises Act and Building Liability Orders
  • Construction case law update

Lianne is a partner in the construction team. She acts for a range of clients including developers, local authorities, contractors and sub-contractors. Lianne's dispute resolution experience includes acting in pre-action negotiations and all stages of the process under the pre-action protocol for construction and engineering disputes, adjudications, arbitrations and court proceedings (including acting on several reported cases). Her work involves advising on claims for delay, acceleration, extensions of time and loss and expense, repudiatory breach of contract, terminations and final account disputes.
