Overview

Join the ICE East Midlands Infrastructure Partnership (EMIP) as it unveils its latest report: Building to grow - an East Midlands perspective on infrastructure. Intended to inform regional decision making, key areas covered by the report include transport, energy, water management and flood-risk management, as well as recommendations for infrastructure priorities and planning. A number of case studies will also be discussed at the event.

This event will be of particular interest to those members working in the local authority space and/or those working in transport, energy, water management or flood-risk management in the region, keen to understand EMIP’s recommendations for the infrastructure priorities and planning in the region.

Adrian Coy FICE

Adrian Coy FICE, chair of the East Midlands Infrastructure Partnership currently acts as an independent consultant.

He chairs the ICE Further Learning Exam Panel and is chief examiner for this master’s level exam.

Adrian has extensive experience of sewerage, surface water & land drainage, highways, transport and traffic, coastal engineering, flood management, emergency planning and general municipal engineering.

Sam Edwards

Sam is a professionally qualified Civil Engineer with engineering, project management and leadership qualifications.  He is also an accredited NEC Project Manager and a membership reviewer for the Institution of Civil Engineers.  His background is in highway design with both design and site supervision experience.  He has since transitioned from the design element of projects to the client role, before progressing to Head of Service in 2019.

Sam leads a team of Project Managers who act as internal clients for highway capital funded projects.  These projects range from modest schemes to major highway projects up to a value of c£200m, such as the Lincoln Eastern Bypass, Grantham Southern Relief Road, Spalding Western Relief Road and the North Hykeham Relief Road.

Although Sam’s work revolves around highway projects, the skills needed to deliver the strategic nature of these are wide and has resulted in the development of extensive skills in political awareness, corporate services, economic growth and the understanding of the needs of communities.

Sam is accountable for a materials laboratory which provides a range of specialist investigation and consultancy services in material, pavements and geotechnical engineering.

Sam sits on various regional and national bodies, including Association of Directors in Environment, Planning and Transport, The Midlands Highway Alliance, and the East Midlands Infrastructure Partnership in collaboration with East Midlands Councils.
