Overview

The second generation of Eurocodes has been under development since 2011 and the final part will be published in early 2025. More evolution than revolution, the code now comes in three parts and explicitly covers more geotechnical structures than before as well as design in rock for the first time.

The talk, presented by Stuart Hardy from Arup, will give a brief introduction to the development of the new code and the UK’s role and then go through important new considerations such as the determination of representative values, the concept on consequence classes and some considerations for the UK National Annex.
