Keith Jones, director ICE Wales Cymru and Emma Antrobus, regional director ICE North West, will talk about the necessary attributes and qualifications for becoming a Fellow of ICE with guest speaker Gaby Hazelden.

Keith Jones FICE

Keith is a Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Environmentalist and Fellow of ICE. He has been in post since May 2008, prior to this he was Operational Manager Highways at the Vale of Glamorgan Council, responsible for all highway maintenance operations including management of the DSO contracting unit as well as Environmental Manager for the Council.

Keith was in Local Government from 1967 to 2008 holding a range of posts involving engineering, highways, infrastructure and drainage. Former Chairman of the County Surveyors Society Wales Engineering Committee and member of the UK Roads Board, advising Government on Highways issues.

He is a member of the Cross Party Groups on STEMM and Construction and Industrial Liaison Boards at Cardiff University and Swansea University.

Emma has been the North West Director of ICE since July 2018, overseeing the activity and budgeting for more than 6,500 members in the region. ICE has more than 95,000 members across the world in all sectors of engineering including transport, housing, development, energy and water.

Having done a business with manufacturing degree, Emma has spent most of her career working with and supporting businesses in all sectors towards improvement and change, with a focus on the engagement with and understanding of policy focusing on infrastructure projects including rebuilding Manchester city centre following the 1996 bomb, Northern Hub and HS2.

Gabi Hazelden

Gabi Hazelden, project management, Jacobs 

Gabi Hazelden is a Fellow Civil Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry with particular emphasis on the tunnelling industry. She has the combined experience of working for contracting,  consulting and client organisations on a variety of projects, including wastewater and fresh water schemes and several railway and metro projects.

She has held “hands-on” roles in her early career from shift engineer on a TBM to agent on tunnelling projects, engineering and design coordination and management roles, to most recently a client representation safeguarding the construction of a fit for purpose asset.

The range of projects Gabi has worked on includes tunnels on high speed railways in Germany, Austria and the UK, metro tunnels and stations in Berlin, London Kings Cross and London Bond Street Station, and water industry experience in London Walthamstow, Lee tunnel and now Thames Tideway’s “Super Sewer”, where she has latterly established and led the NEC Supervisor team across all 3 main works sections.
