Overview

Do you ever wonder why making regular/irregular, solid/liquid deposits and then flushing should be so complex, with so many taboos?

This myth busting session may answer the following questions:

  • Why do some people endure long toilet queues in theatres and rugby clubs, while others don’t?
  • Are you confused about which toilet is meant for you?
  • Where do parents / carers take their small child of the opposite sex when they need a toilet?
  • Can you legally stop people using a particular toilet?
  • Do office / public toilet designs make people want to stay / keep them at home?
  • Why do all toilet doors need to open outwards?
  • How can toilet designs include people with differences such as gender, prostate, menopause, epilepsy, mobility etc, without the need for people to declare their differences?
  • How many toilets have to be provided?
  • What role do dolphins play in toilets?
  • What happens if you arrive somewhere and there isn’t a toilet available for you?

Further questions submitted in advance are welcomed.

This light-hearted session aims to help us understand the utter importance of good toilets to suit everyone. It will run through the wide variety of toilet types and issues we face daily. We will attempt to avoid technical detail (available separately if required), explain the latest toilet regulations.

The session will be run by Access Included, inclusive designers sharing over 20 years of toilet knowledge (and humour).
