About this event

On arrival at our old farm, you will be met by wine maker Alex Mills or one of our experienced vineyard staff. You will be guided around the vineyard for approximately 1 hour with explanations of the vine varieties and challenges in growing grapes in Devon.

Then you will visit Pebblebed's winery and over the next hour your guide will talk through the processes involved in making different wines. You will then taste four or five of our wines with plenty of opportunity to discuss the vineyard or wine making methods. We will of course have wines available to buy from the cellar door!

A further option is to add on supper and another glass of wine in our Topsham Cellar 5 minutes drive away or 30 minutes walk.

Pebblebed started as a community project when in 1999 11 local families under the direction of Geoff Bowen came together to plant the first half acre of vines in an idyllic setting just to the South of Exeter in Devon. From these beginnings, Geoff and his wife Anna quickly realised their passion for viticulture and with considerable help from the community and local farmers, Pebblebed has grown to more than 20 acres of vineyards and now has a modern winery. In a good year close to 50,000 bottles of Devon wines are produced.

Please note, transport to and from the venue(s) is not provided.

Directions to the vineyard: Find the church at Clyst St George and go down the lane opposite the church. Please bring wellies if wet.
