In his foreword to ICE President’s Apprentices Report “Innovation: Stepping up the Industry” Prof. David Balmforth (ICE President 2014-2015) states “We struggle to build the processes that lead to innovation into our day to day work. Yet for the UK to be successful we need to encourage innovation in order to maintain a competitive edge. We have a strong history of invention, but perceive that we are often poor at implementation and commercial exploitation.”
