Here you will find details of all ICE committees in the East of England region, including graduate and student sub-committees, and special interest groups (SIGs).

  • Regional Executive Board

    Paul Mitchelmore, Chair and Norfolk Branch Chair

    The ICE East of England Regional Executive Board manages ICE affairs in the East of England.

    The board is made up of the chairmen of the various branches, special interest groups, regional members of council, and representatives on national boards and panels. All members of the board are volunteers and are unpaid for their work with ICE. The chairman, honorary secretary and honorary treasurer are appointed at the East of England Region Annual General Meeting, which usually takes place in October.

    It works in partnership with the Regional Support Team (RST), which is made up of paid employees of ICE, headed by the regional director.

    The board - through its various branches and groups, and with RST's support - organises a programme of events for ICE members of the throughout the East of England.

  • Essex Branch Committee

    Ben Biggs, panel Chair

    Essex is one of the largest of the six East of England branches, representing around 900 members. The committee organises most Essex Branch events and aims to meet bi-monthly in Chelmsford.

    The branch's main aims include:

    • Arranging an annual programme of meetings, seminars, courses and debates
    • Arranging visits to works of engineering interest
    • Promoting, developing and expanding public perception of civil engineering and civil engineers
    • Promoting civil engineering education in local communities, colleges and school

  • Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Branch Committee

    Andy Palmer, Chair

    Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire is largest of the six East of England branches, and represents around 1,800 members. It arranges learned society events which are usually held in St Albans.

    The branch's main aims include:

    • Arranging an annual programme of meetings, seminars, courses and debates
    • Arranging visits to works of engineering interest
    • Promoting, developing and expanding public perception of civil engineering and civil engineers
    • Promoting civil engineering education in local communities, colleges and school

  • Graduates and Students Committees

    The main aims of G&S groups in the region are to arrange learned society meetings, seminars and social events for graduate and student ICE members. They also make sure that the views of young civil engineers are fed back to ICE's decision makers.

    Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire

    There are around 700 graduate and student members in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The committee organises events, socials, competitions and courses. It helps other students, graduates and members develop their careers and provides the support they need to become better engineers.

    If you're an ICE graduate or student member in the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire area, or are new to the area, feel free to to join and get involved in our G&S Committee. It usually meets once a month in St Albans. All graduate and student members are welcome at meetings, which usually take place once a month in St Albans, They which are a great way to meet other volunteer engineers, network and make the most of your institution.
