Glasgow’s Clyde bridges

A heritage trail and map featuring over 20 bridges along the River Clyde.

This leaflet, produced by volunteers from our Glasgow West of Scotland Branch, tells the story of the city's bridges, which reflect the city's development over 150 years and chart the rapid industrialisation and improvements in communication and transport.

Developments in engineering materials and knowledge can be traced in the techniques used to construct the bridges and the walk reveals a full range of bridge types and materials. The leaflet is free and is available from the ICE Scotland Office and local libraries and tourist information centres. A guided walk is available as part of Glasgow's Doors Open Day in September each year.
