ICE's work in the South West is carried out by members on various committees and groups. These bring together like-minded people and give members the opportunity to increase their knowledge, get advice and raise the profile of civil engineering in the region.

  • Graduate and Students

    Cole Griffin, Overall South West G&S Chair

    The ICE South West Graduates and Students Committee organises various activities throughout the year, including networking events and the graduates and students conference. There are graduate and student groups in Truro, Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol and Swindon.

City Clubs

The South West has 10 dedicated city clubs across the region, which organise a regular programme of events on civil engineering topics. Each club is run by a committee of volunteers with a range of interests and from a variety of education and employment backgrounds.

This makes clubs suitable for all members - from technicians to fellows - and, when it comes to events, there's something for everyone. Some lectures may also be of interest to school students and members of the public.

Bath City Club

The Bath City Club is usually on the third Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December). Meetings are chaired by John Froud, supported by the committee volunteers, and events include a range of lectures and site visits. Bristol City Club

The Bristol City Club normally gets together on the first Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December). Meetings are chaired by Eva Linnell with the support of committee volunteers, and the club organises a variety of lectures and site visits. Channel Islands Group of Professional Engineers

The Channel Islands Group of Professional Engineers (CIGPE) is the representative body for the professional engineering institutions in the Channel Islands. The group represents a wide range of engineering institutions although the principal sponsors are the IET, ICE and IMechE.

CIGPE organises a number of engineering events each year including a series of technical lectures. These events are free to attend and contribute to Continued Professional Development. While aimed at engineers, our events are open to all members of the public.

Cheltenham and Gloucester City Club

The Cheltenham and Gloucester City Club usually meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December). Meetings are chaired by Alan Bullock, supported by the committee volunteers, and include lectures and site visits. Dorchester City Club

The Dorchester City Club usually holds meetings on the first Thursday of each month (excluding August and December). It is chaired by Nick Lyness, with support from committee volunteers, and its programme of events includes an array of lectures and site visits. Exeter City Club

The Exeter City Club - chaired by Ian Cutler with support from committee volunteers - is usually held on the third Thursday of each month (excluding August and December). The Plymouth City Club normally gets together on the second Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December). Poole City Club

Poole City Club meetings usually take place on the third Thursday of each month (excluding August and December) and are chaired by Paul Todd, supported by the committee volunteers.
