The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) welcomes today's announcement by the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) of Nick Smallwood as its Chief Executive and Head of the Government Project Delivery Function.
Chris Richards, ICE Head of Policy and Public Affairs, said:
“The appointment of Nick Smallwood to the role of Chief Executive of the Infrastructure and Planning Authority comes at a crucial time, as the country gears up for the Autumn Budget and a spending review which is expected to be heavily focused on infrastructure.
"Long-term planning and a rigorous focus on improving productivity across the built environment sector will be essential in securing an economically strong and net-zero carbon Britain. These in turn will deliver the highest living standards right across the country for years to come.
“The IPA has a clear role in ensuring we achieve that future by consistently focusing on improving infrastructure delivery to maximise benefits for the public. ICE looks forward to working with Nick in achieving that."
