26 projects compete for ICE West Midlands Awards

Twenty-six infrastructure projects from across the West Midlands have entered for this year’s ICE West Midlands Project Awards.

2017 has seen the greatest ever number of entries for the ICE West Midlands Regional Project Awards – with 26 projects in total.

The awards which take place at the ICC in Birmingham on 17 May are one of the major events of the regional built environment calendar, the Project Awards 2017 recognise outstanding examples of West Midlands' design and construction completed in 2016.

Professor Tim Broyd, ICE's President, will present the awards to the winning teams at the Awards dinner which will be attended by over 300 representatives from the built environment sector.

Iain Stewart, BBC 2 Horizon Presenter and Professor of Geoscience Communication in the School of Earth, Ocean & Environmental Sciences at the University of Plymouth will be the special guest speaker at the event.

Projects can be entered for any of the following categories: Partnership, Education, Heritage, Team Achievement, Communication, Geotechnical, Construction, Innovation, Partnership, Studies & Research and Sustainability.

All projects must be located in the West Midlands region, except for theTeam Achievement Award where the team must be located in the region, but the project can be anywhere in the world.

This year saw the introduction of a new Studies and Research Award which is for research projects being undertaken by teams in the region.
