Annual Christmas concert raises the roof and funds for charity

ICE North West members, friends and family came together for the Manchester Branch Annual Christmas Concert held at St Ann’s church in the heart of Manchester.

We sang and made merry with ICE NW Brass (our very own brass band) and Sotto Voce – all in the aid of a wonderful cause.

This year’s recipient was Over The Wall, a UK charity providing residential summer camps for children and their families coping with serious illnesses and conditions.

Almost £700 was collected on the evening and will go straight towards helping a family in need.

Karen Dobson, who attended the concert on behalf of Over the Wall was thrilled with the amount raised and said, “Thank you so much for inviting us to benefit from the collection at your lovely Christmas Concert. We really do appreciate it.

“Please pass on our thanks to the most generous audience. The donations will go towards providing a place at an Over The Wall camp in 2017 for a child living in the North West. A week at camp is a life changing experience for children coping with the impact of serious illness.”

ICE member, Jon Goddard, who organises the event and plays in the band said, “We’re now in our ninth year so the Christmas Concert is a firm favourite in the ICE North West calendar and has raised a huge amount for a number of charities over the years.

“None of it would be possible without the generous time given by all of our volunteers. We are also very grateful to GHD, who sponsored the event this year.”
