The deadline for completing development objective-based IPD was 28 March 2018.
If you or any of your colleagues were recording your initial professional development (IPD) against development objectives and have not completed your IPD, it's time to convert to the attributes-based approach.
The deadline only applies to IPD completion using the development objectives. Candidates that successfully completed their development objective-based IPD by 28 March 2018 can apply for Professional Review at any point in the future – upcoming application dates are on our website.
Support for transferring to attributes-based IPD
ICE launched the attributes-based programme for completing IPD in 2015 as part of a wider initiative to streamline the process for becoming professionally qualified.
Candidates still need to meet the same high standards, but the attributes-based IPD approach is more straightforward than following the development objectives as it aligns with the requirements of the Professional Review (which is also based on the attributes). This also means that candidates can progress more quickly from completing their IPD to sitting their Professional Review.
We have a range of support and guidance to help you make the transition to attributes:
We have also created a handy guide for mapping development objectives to attributes.
Record your progress with IPD Online
If you have a training agreement and transfer to the attributes-based approach you will also benefit from our IPD Online system. The platform is mobile friendly, easy to use and includes a host of features to help you record your progress as you work towards becoming professionally qualified.
You are not expected to re-write all of your evidence – instead we recommend you combine your evidence into a single pdf file and then upload it to IPD Online. You should then write a short summary of your progress against each attribute in IPD Online for your SCE to sign off at your current achievement level. You can then continue to record your evidence in IPD Online.
