The chair of the Presidential Commission into the governance of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has been appointed.
At the request of the ICE Council, David Orr CBE FREng FICE, and ICE Past-President, has agreed to chair the Commission that will review the governance of the Institution.
Professor Lord Robert Mair, ICE President, said:
The ICE Council agreed to initiate the Presidential Commission after a Special General Meeting on 31 July.
“I am pleased that ICE Past-President David Orr has agreed to chair this review into the governance of ICE. David brings with him a wealth of industry experience, and existing knowledge of the Institution, which will be central to the work he will lead.
“This review will engage fully with ICE membership to understand and consider a diverse range of views to develop recommendations for the Institution to further improve its governance.”
The Presidential Commission will take place over 2019. The Terms of Reference and proposed membership of the Commission are being prepared for discussion and approval at the ICE Council meeting in December.
