ICE honours Director of T.J. O'Connor & Associates, Ireland

Hear about Michael Moriarty’s outstanding contribution to the profession in Republic of Ireland.

Michael Moriarty was awarded the 2017 Outstanding Achievement Award at the ICE Republic of Ireland’s Annual Dinner held on 12 May 2017. The award was given to Michael for his outstanding work in the Building Control Amendment Regulations; and Safety, Health and Welfare in Ireland.

Michael was instrumental in advancing the S.I. No. 9/2014 of the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2014 and played a key role in producing the code of practice for Inspection and Certification of Buildings and Works.

He is a director of T.J. O'Connor & Associates and has 37 years of experience in planning and designing major engineering projects.

Over the past 10 years, he was involved in the consultations with the Government Construction Contracts Committee (GCCC) on the conditions of engagement for consultancy services and the associated procurement criteria for the new Department of Finance Forms of Contract. He also acted as an expert witness in a number of construction related disputes in structural engineering.
