Tom Glovehew was voted in as ICE North West Chair for the 2018/19 session at the recent ICE North West AGM.
He takes over from Alan Williams who was Chair during 2017/18.
Speaking about his appointment Tom Glovehew said: "This is a great time to be Chair of ICE North West. We have already achieved so much in terms of getting the news out to a wider audience about the civil engineering profession. There will be more activity to come as we continue our ICE 200 celebrations.
"I'm also keen that we continue to shine a light on the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in the region as well as promoting the pivotal role of the North as a whole, via the Northern Powerhouse agenda and ICE's own Northern Infrastructure Strategy."
Outgoing Chair, Alan Williams said: "This has been a fabulous opportunity and honour, which has seen me involved with civil engineering from so many angles, from volunteers through to policy makers. I'd like to thank each and every person for their valued support and wish Tom every success in his year as ICE North West Chair."
The Regional Chair and Committee will now start working closely with recently appointed ICE North West Director, Emma Antrobus, in delivering the business plan for the region.
Tom Glovehew confirmed he will start a process to appoint a Chair's apprentice for the coming year. Full details to follow shortly.
