Television presenter Joe Mahon received an ICE 200 medal for his outstanding contribution to ICE through Ulster Giants, an eight-part television series about Northern Ireland's civil engineers.

ICE Northern Ireland Chairman Philip Brown presented Joe with the medal at a special screening of Ulster Giants in the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum on 9 June.

Presenting Joe with the medal, Philip said: "On behalf of President Professor Lord Mair, ICE would like to recognise your work in promoting Northern Ireland's rich heritage and your contributions to the civil engineering profession."

The Ulster Giants series, produced by Westway Films in collaboration with ICE Northern Ireland, is a celebration of ICE 200 featuring many ICE members as contributors. The series will explore the history of some of Northern Ireland's most iconic civil engineering feats, as well as the exciting future of the profession.

The first episode of Ulster Giants is set to air on UTV on 23 July at 8pm.
