Professor Lord Robert Mair, the President of ICE, visited the A14 Upgrade near Huntingdon last month.
He was given a presentation about the scheme and its progress by Construction Director Julian Lamb and his team.
He was also taken on a brief inspection tour of the new elevated section near Brampton. He was shown how pre-cast sections are made off-site and slotted into place which is proving speedier and more accurate than previous methods.
The A14 upgrade is managed by Highways England and is the country’s largest construction project costing £1.5billion.
Lord Mair said he found it 'the most interesting' site visit of his Presidential year which finishes at the end of October 2018.
