ICE members recognised in New Year’s Honours list

Civil engineers receive top awards for their work across a range of sectors.

They included Jacqueline Banks MICE, Manager, Asset Performance Environment Agency who received an MBE for services to communities and flood risk management.

Chris Newsome CEng FICE, Director of Asset Management and Executive Director at Anglian Water, was honoured with an OBE for services to civil engineering and carbon reduction. Chris has spent the vast majority of his career within the water industry, planning for, designing and delivering capital programmes of work and managing the asset base.

Ken Logan CEng MICE, who has worked for the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland since 1985 received an MBE for his services to health and safety and the community in Northern Ireland.

Receiving an MBE for services to transport was Roger Mackintosh AMICE, a Senior Executive Officer for Traffic and Engineering at the Department for Transport.

Hugh Wark CEng MICE, who was previously Project Director on the successful Borders Railway, was awarded an OBE for services to transport and the economy in Scotland. Completed in 2015, the railway was the longest domestic railway to be built in Britain in over 100 years.
