ICE New Zealand has successfully pulled off an event to celebrate the Institution’s 200th anniversary, with visitors left wanting more.

The family event, ‘Engineering the Future’, held at The Cloud in Auckland on 22 September 2018, attracted more than 3,000 visitors.

Nathaniel Warmington, from the ICE New Zealand Committee, said: “The event’s legacy includes further STEM outreach activities, an Explore Engineering map of Auckland, and internship opportunities through leveraging our industry relationships.

“With positive feedback received on the day, many asked will the event be held again next year? Watch this space!”

There were over 25 exhibitors at the event, including local government institutions, engineering design firms, contractors, suppliers and equipment specialists.

They were challenged with presenting engineering in approachable, interactive ways. These included guided tours of a dredging barge moored next to the venue, virtual reality experiences, creative competitions, and an ICE Cardboard City.

There was also a CAFÉ 200 stage, where a schedule of talks was run throughout the afternoon.
