Incoming ICE President Rachel Skinner will send out a warning on carbon emissions in her inaugural address on November 3.
In both a public and industry wide urgent call and a turning point for ICE leadership, Rachel will urge us to face up to the fact that we are living beyond our planetary means and that as the population grows so does our carbon based impact.
She will say our industry needs to accept that with the infrastructure we design, build and use today, we are contributing to the rise in carbon emissions. However, by understanding the impacts, she says the industry is well-positioned to support progress to net-zero carbon.
The key question Rachel will ask is whether we are ready and willing to adapt and, if we are, how far and how fast we can adapt.
Rachel will also use her inaugural address to introduce how she intends to find out what more can be done, as she embarks on a series of visits to ICE regions around the country.
