These prestigious awards, sponsored by CDM Recruitment and now in their 30th year, have three categories, large, medium and small, for projects valued at more than £5 million, between £1-5 million and those with a value up to £1 million.
Nominations are open to projects completed or substantially completed in the last two years, with the winners announced during an online awards ceremony in the spring.
This year we celebrate 30 years of the Robert Stephenson Awards and to mark this milestone we will be presenting a special award. Nominations will be sought via a social media poll with voting open to all.
In 2020, the A19-1058 Coast Road Improvements scheme was the Large Category winner, Northern Gateway was the Medium Category winner and Port of Sunderland Emergency Works was the Small Category winner.
Steena Nasapen-Watson, ICE North East Regional Director, said: “The annual awards recognise the delivery of effective infrastructure projects and promote the very best of civil engineering across the North East.
“Each year, they are keenly contested by the region’s leading engineering and project management firms, and I am expecting another strong cohort of entries for 2021.
“It is important to showcase the outstanding work in the art of civil engineering throughout the North East, as these projects contribute so much to society and improve people’s everyday lives. We’re looking forward to seeing the entries and our online awards ceremony in 2021."
