Nick Baveystock, Director General of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), said:
“I am delighted to see the emphasis on building our future. When it comes to infrastructure what we build now will be in use well past 2050 so we must get this right and so I am delighted we will see the National Infrastructure Strategy soon. Getting this implemented should be a quick and relatively easy step given the significant work that has been put in.
“The Strategy is only the first step, infrastructure takes time and there are limited shovel ready projects available at scale. Laying the groundwork for the National Infrastructure Strategy through asset maintenance is a quick and easy next step which will immediately boost our local economies.”
