| Professional reviews will resume this month, in a new digital format, ensuring civil engineers can continue to progress to chartered status.
Procedures and training materials are currently being reworked to allow reviews to take place digitally, rather than in-person as is traditional. The new format will allow candidates and reviewers to conduct the necessary interview via video link, and the written exercise will be completed, by the candidate, remotely.
The change means there will be limited disruption to the reviews process in 2020, with around 1400 reviews still expected to take place.

“Ensuring our student and graduate members can obtain a professional qualification is a priority. We recognise the huge amount of work and effort candidates put in to prepare for reviews, and we want them to be able to take that next step in their careers.
“The Institution has responded swiftly to move reviews online and ensure that even during this pandemic, we can provide the best service to members. We would like to thank candidates and reviewers for their patience and understanding during this exceptional period.”
The revised reviews programme will start again from the week cmmencing 20 April. The ICE Professional Reviews team will be contacting candidates and reviewers in the coming weeks to rearrange dates. New applications are also being accepted.
Once global travel restrictions are lifted, ICE will look to reintroduce review centres and, where feasible, offer smaller centres in company offices.
