30% of this year's QUEST Technician scholars are women

Women represent 30% of this year's QUEST Technician scholarships award winners, ICE has revealed.

Out of the 86 young ICE members across the UK who have just been awarded a QUEST Technician or Technician Plus Scholarship, 26 are female.

One of the winners from Northern Ireland, Hannah Monaghan, Work+ Apprentice and Technical Assistant at Amey Consulting, said: "I decided to do the QUEST Scholarship as I thought it was a great way to showcase my skills and ability both in work and at university.

"I thought it would help with my career progression and boost my confidence, as well as help me get more comfortable with technical writing and interviews."

Another QUEST Scholarship winner from Northern Ireland, Lewis Barnes, is studying Level 3 Civil Engineering Diploma while working for Farrans.

"Having a QUEST Scholarship will be of great benefit to me in my career as it shows that ICE has recognised my commitment to civil engineering," he said.

The full list of recipients can be found below.

The QUEST scholarships recognise engineers for their abilities and potential, and helps them to boost their professional development.

QUEST Technician scholarships are a mark of excellence on a young engineer's CV, and offers financial support of up to £1,500.

The next opportunity to apply for QUEST Technician or Technician Plus scholarships will be from 7 October 2019.

QUEST is a charitable fund administered by ICE. It offers funding awards for civil engineers at all levels to aid study and professional development activities. Most importantly, QUEST helps encourage new talent into the profession.
