This STEM campaign offers a structured learning opportunity for secondary school students to understand the key elements of engineering.
ICE Hong Kong Association Graduates and Students Division (ICE HKA G&S) has announced that the Shaping Our Future City campaign and competition will return in 2023.
The annual campaign offers senior secondary school students (F.4 to F.5) in Hong Kong the opportunity to learn more about the engineering profession and how civil engineers contribute to society.
Students will be invited to a series of seminars, workshops and site visits hosted by industry experts, where they’ll see what a career in engineering and technology would be like.
In addition, students in teams of three to five will design a major public works project as part of the inter-school, scenario-based competition. This year’s theme is ‘building with nature, shaping our future’.
Teams will be asked to work with young engineers to design a hypothetical public sustainability exhibition centre located at a selected site in Hong Kong.
Students will also learn about future opportunities and challenges in Hong Kong’s infrastructure development and interact with professionals who have rewarding engineering careers.
This will allow the students to consolidate STEM knowledge learned at school, develop their creativity and experience the day-to-day jobs of civil engineers.
A prize of HK$5,000 in book vouchers is up for grabs.
