New programmes are being added to the Learning Hub each month.
In light of the current situation, with many governments worldwide ordering against all but essential travel, tens of thousands of civil engineers have now started working from home.
This, is an entirely new way of working which brings huge challenges around productivity, team work and communication.
Please note that all CPD programmes can be accessed on the Learning HUB through the MyICE dashboard/My Learning.
To help with this transition the ICE Learning Hub now offers a brand NEW eight-module programme designed to provide ICE Members with a range of short ‘need to know’ packages on how to remain productive whilst working from home.
From tips about making the most out of the many numerous communication tools there are available, to collaborating and managing virtual teams, these short packages give Members an insight into transitioning to this new way of working.
Module 1: Working from home and COVID-19 Workng from home and COVID 19 has been created to help those who are working from home for the first time. The course starts by guiding members through a quick set up of their workplace to than provide some support on mental health care, and finishes by reminding you of a few helpful tips that will help you avoid contracting the virus.
Module 2: Staying productive Our time is precious, but there never seems to be enough of it. This module covers productivity basics and how you can get more done in less time.What is the secret to being more productive? Access the Learning HUB through the MyICE dashboard/My Learning to find out!
Module 3: Instant messaging This module takes you through the correct instant messaging etiquette, building good virtual relationships, the importance of checking in with your team and knowing your audience. Tips: Make time for face to face. Validate co-workers when you agree with them. Follow up/Check in.
Module 4: Using email effectively This module covers email etiquette. Emails remain one of the most common forms of work communication. This module explains when to send an email, how to write the perfect message and how to make best use of your inbox. Doubting your email etiquette? This course is for you!
Module 5: Working collaboratively online Wherever your team is situated, these online collaboration tools can help you to work as a productive, digital team. The module will take you through the 3 C’s of collaboration -communicate, coordinate, conference - and solutions including a shared folder to help get your team on board.
Module 6: Remote working module Remote working has become increasingly common as organisations recognise the advantages of operating outside of the traditional office in favour of more flexible options. This module looks at why people are working remotely and the benefits for individuals and organisations.
Module 7: Remote health and safety module Flexible working can be the key to a positive work life balance, helping to cut down on commute times and travel costs. But we ask: How do employees and employers ensure health and safety standards are maintained and who's responsible for the safety of remote workers.
Module 8: Managing virtual teams module Virtual teams work independently with shared organisational purpose, using technology to communicate and collaborate. This module looks at the benefits and challenges of virtual teams, the importance of a clear communication plan and the role of the manager in team success.

Module 11: Experiencing change module Security and freedom are two vital elements of our everyday lives, but when a sudden change occurs it can affect the balance. This module explores the 7 steps of the 'change curve' and looks at the importance of separating imagined fear from reality in order to adapt to change.
