Several people in the civil engineering community have been recognised for their work in the Queen’s annual Honours List.
Eight ICE members have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year's Honours List.
Joanna Gabrielle Da Silva, (pictured above), Director of Arup Group Ltd, was awarded a Damehood for services to Engineering and International, Sustainable Development.
Kevin James Byrne, Managing Director at Seymour Civil Engineering, was awarded an MBE for services to Business and to Skills.
Robert Kilpatrick Rankin, Project Manager at Watt's Improved Safety Headguard, received an MBE for services to Civil Engineering and to Innovation.
Ian Robert Cowan CEng MICE, Managing Director at Dal Sterling, was awarded an MBE for services to the British community in Seoul and UK civil engineering.
Tony Gibbs FICE, retired, was awarded The Companion of Honour, of Barbados.
Lieutenant General Sir Tyrone Urch, CEng FICE, KBE, was awarded a knighthood in recognition of his role as Standing Joint Commander, in which he led the military’s contribution to the UK’s fight against Covid-19.
Lieutenant Colonel Gareth John Walker, CEng FICE, former ICE Council Member, was awarded an OBE in recognition of his role in leading the military provision of vital natural disaster relief in the British Caribbean and extreme flooding response in the UK.
Anthony Price, former chairman of the ICE Energy Panel and a recipient of the Institution's James Watt Medal, was awarded an OBE for his services to the Energy Storage Industry.
Three non-ICE members were also recognised for their work in the field of civil engineering.
Martin James Frobisher, Group Safety and Engineering Director, Technical Authority, Network Rail, received an OBE for services to the NHS and Railway Workers during Covid-19 and his voluntary service through the Army Reserves.
Richard Anthony Lee, Chief People Officer at Willmott Dixon, was awarded an OBE for services to Business and Equality.
Christopher Montague Grigg, Chief Executive Officer of British Land, was awarded a CBE for services to Business, particularly during the Covid-19 response.
