ICE Publishing share their 2020 highlights. Read on to learn about the most popular content released in 2020 and find out what bargains you can get in their January book sale.
An extraordinary year has finished. We cannot say we feel nostalgic about it yet, however, we would like to fully review it before saying farewell!
At the beginning of the year, we managed to hold a launch event for The Consulting Engineers. Once Covid-19 hit, we made our pandemic related papers free to read and shared with librarians how they could maintain their users access.
Working from home meant an increase in views of our online journals, you can see the most popular papers in our recent blog. We also held a virtual awards show (read the winning papers for free) and Frontiers in Green Materials Online.
While Covid-19 was important it wasn’t the only thing that got people talking. With announcements on emissions, Budget 2020, sustainable development, and infrastructure, civil engineering always seemed to be in the news. We have looked at which content got you talking in 2020, using a tool called Altmetric which counts the mentions of content in mainstream media, policy documents, blogs, social media posts and more. Which papers and books have you read on our most mentioned list?
We have also highlighted (in no particular order) our five most popular books published in 2020. They span professional development, civil engineering history and project management and all are included in our January sale.
We don’t know exactly what 2021 will bring, but we know that civil engineers will continue to shape our world. If you want to stay informed, remember to sign up for journal table of contents alerts as many are now online only. If you are looking to share your own work this year, see our book author information hub or our open call for papers.
Don’t forget, you can get 20% off a range of print books covering the most important developments in civil engineering. Whether you are seeking to find books suitable for your CPD or looking for a particular guide in one of the thirteen civil engineering subject areas, head to ICE Bookshop to explore our January print book sale and expand your knowledge. It expires on 24 January 2021.
