Spaces that promote active travel and inclusivity are featured in a public vote to recognise civil engineering schemes that positively impact the South West of England.

The South West People’s Choice Award shortlist was selected by an expert judging panel from entries to the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards 2022.

The projects cover a diverse range of civil engineering works that have helped communities get together, travel safely and protect their environment and biodiversity.

The People’s Choice Award is decided by public vote. The public can read about each of the finalists and choose their favourite online.

The award categories will be judged in a second round, led by industry experts.

Miranda Housden, ICE South West Regional Director, encouraged people to learn about the outstanding projects and cast their vote.

“The People’s Choice Award is a fantastic opportunity to promote civil engineering to the public, celebrating the challenging work that civil engineers engage in to benefit the region’s communities,” she said.

The South West People’s Choice Award winner will be announced at a gala event in Bristol on 15 September 2022. The event will be presented by Rob Bell, television presenter and engineer.

Details of all the shortlisted projects are available on the ICE South West awards page. Voting closes at 5pm on Friday 29 July 2022.

The ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards are held in association with Kier Bam.
