Influence our Education & Inspiration activities

Are you interested in helping ICE to to inspire the next generation of civil engineer?

To make sure we meet society’s infrastructure needs in the future, we urgently need to encourage more young people to consider a career in civil engineering. ICE’s Education and Inspiration (E&I) Team works with STEM Ambassadors and educators across the UK to showcase the interesting and varied roles available to younger people. To help set the direction for our E&I work, we’re looking for people to join the newly re-formed Educational and Inspiration Advisory Group.

The group works closely with our E&I Team to deliver a high-impact programme of activities designed to have maximum impact on inspiring the next generation of civil engineers and ensuring a supportive policy background.

Our E&I Programme is designed to directly increase the number of people coming into the profession ensuring we have a diverse range of members who can collectively help solve society’s big issues. It aims to connect with children and young people of all ages from lower primary right through to 18-year olds.

The group is made up of members, teachers and key ICE staff, and meets formally twice a year. Throughout the year, individuals from the group can choose to get involved in particular aspects of the programme. This can take the form of fixed-term working groups to see new projects through to delivery. Many of the activities and resources which the group helps to deliver are used by our 3,000 STEM Ambassadors to help inspire young people. Apart from the satisfaction of inspiring more young people to join the profession, it’s a great opportunity to improve your confidence and gain valuable communications skills, as well as increasing your network
