It’s the sixth annual INWED in 2019 and ICE members all over the world will be celebrating by raising awareness and running events with students to promote the role of women in engineering.
International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) is an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering. It's coordinated by the Women's Engineering Society (WES), which is also celebrating 100 years in 2019, so it’s a double celebration!
The sixth annual INWED is taking place on 23 June and ICE members are encouraged to get involved. The theme for 2019 is #TransformTheFuture.

A ‘Transform the Future’ Panel Debate in London featuring young ICE professionals is open to all on Friday 21 June at 11.30.
The ICE Plymouth Club is organising an Engineering Extravaganza family fun day on Saturday 22 June at Devonport Guildhall between 10:00-14:00. This will include stalls and workshops including Women in Stem and Building Plymouth, with plenty of industry support.
ICE Hong Kong are holding a sharing session with four women engineers from different stages of their career in engineering fields on Saturday 22 June.
ICE partner the Rochester Bridge Trust is holding a free screening of the film Hidden Figures in Bexleyheath on Wednesday on 19 June at 5pm.
Join other female engineering professionals at a networking event on Monday 24 June from 18:00-22:00 in London.
ICE members in the North West can attend the Connect–Engage–Network–Celebrate event being held in Newcastle on Monday 24 June.
A family fun day on Sunday 23 June and panel discussion on Tuesday 25 June, both in Cardiff.
ICE Malaysia will be holding the lecture and networking event Building Resilience Through Professional Identity Work, where speakers will share their journeys of developing the resilience that got them to where they are in their respective professions. 26 June 2019, 6.00pm–8.45pm, Monash University.
WES is also encouraging female engineers to get involved with INWED via social media.
Make yourself an INWED role model by downloading and printing out the #INWED19 selfie cards and post yourself and your message on Twitter or Instagram (please do copy in @ICE_engineers and @INWED1919 too!).
A key part of this campaign will be the coordinated post to get #INWED19 trending by posting at 12:00 GMT on Sunday 23 June.
