Results announced for Hong Kong communications competition 2019-2020

The ICE HKA G&S Communications Competition 2019-2020 final was successfully held between 15 and 21 February 2020.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the audience session of the competition was cancelled to avoid close contact among participants.

The final was consequently changed to an online format with each team submitting a 15-minute video presentation. Each team had to introduce their development proposal and consultation strategy towards the project scenario to the honourable judges.

The judges then reviewed the presentations and raised questions for each team. Finally, the teams were given two days to provide a 10-minute video response.

The teams exhibited outstanding communications skills as well as in-depth engineering knowledge. They excelled in promoting their approach of the project to the public. The teams performed so well that it was a difficult task for the judges to choose the winners.

The winners of the competition are as follows:

  • Champion: Pre-engineers
  • First runner-up: COMpromICE
  • Second runner-up: Over-consolidated
  • Best presenter: Mr TAM Tsun Kit from Pre-engineers

On behalf of the ICE HKA G&S, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the honourable judges, Mr CS Liu, Mr KK Ling and Ms Nicole Wong, for sharing their knowledge and experience with our young engineers.

  • Crystal Fung, executive officer at Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
