The University of Surrey – an ICE academic partner - is hosting the Annual Symposium of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) and the 7th International Conference on Spatial Structures from 23 - 27 August 2021. Originally due to be held this year, the conference date has changed due to the current climate with event registration opening in the new year.
Held every nine years since 1966, the global conference theme will be inspiring the next generation and has attracted a high calibre of keynote speakers, including ICE Fellow Ian Firth.
Call for papers
The organisers are now accepting abstract submissions until 30 November 2020 and is open to all who are interested in shell and spatial structures including engineers, architects, educators, researchers, and practitioners. View all the conference topics here.
The conference organisers are also looking to showcase creativity in design. The IASS Working Group is hosting a competition for an innovative lightweight structure, which will be exhibited at the IASS Symposium 2021. Entries must display a strong vision of structural design and innovation. The deadline for entries is 31st January 2021. Find out more information here.
