ICE submission to the BEIS Committee’s inquiry on decarbonisation of the power sector

This submission outlines the ICE’s views on some of the public policy challenges concerning the decarbonisation of the UK’s power sector over the coming decade, including:

• Future energy mix
• The role of new nuclear
• Action on energy efficiency in homes
• Continuing to evolve existing mechanisms such as Contracts for Difference and the RAB model
• Supporting nascent markets and technologies, as well as energy storage
• The role of the Future Systems Operators
• Building a compelling public narrative and supporting consumers
