TTL, the ICE’s commercial arm, is recruiting for new talent to help deliver its ambitious growth strategy.

Thomas Telford Ltd (TTL) is looking for two new non-executive directors (NEDs) to join its board and support the company through an exciting period of transformation and growth.
TTL, the commercial arm of the ICE, donates all its profits to the institution to support the ICE’s charitable activities.
TTL has grown in turnover and profits in recent years across its portfolio of services:
- NEC contracts and project management services
- The One Great George Street building, a conference venue and the ICE’s HQ
- Specialist training for ICE members and non-members
- A civil engineering job board
The company is also going through a digital transformation to capitalise on the increasing impact of digital workflow tools in the infrastructure sector and the continued growth of collaborative contracts.
The NEDs would support the management team in delivering TTL’s strategy to enable further growth.
Skills and experience needed
Successful applicants should be ICE members and have demonstrable experience of:
- Participating in the infrastructure industry at board level
- Growing business in the UK and overseas
- Making strategic decisions between different growth options
- Acting as executive director of a £20m turnover business
They should also understand good corporate governance and the ethos and risk appetite of a not-for-profit shareholder.
The role’s responsibilities
The two non-executive director vacancies would be for an initial period of three years.
It’s expected that board members attend 6-7 board meetings every year.
Regular board meetings are generally three hours long, with a longer annual strategy day in February. Shorter ad hoc meetings may be held as needed during the year.
The NEDs may also need to engage with TTL directors and ICE trustees.
How to apply
To apply, send your CV to [email protected]. The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Thursday, 20 March 2025.
Please note this role isn’t remunerated, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed in line with ICE policy.
