Responding to the re-election of the Conservative Party, Nick Baveystock, ICE Director General, said:
"We heard a lot of promises about infrastructure during the election campaign. Promises, which if delivered, will help us build a vibrant, sustainable economy that will ensure our children have the future they deserve.
"What is needed now is less talk and more action. This should start by fast-tracking the National Infrastructure Strategy, which is now alarmingly overdue.
"Delivering this manifesto promise is urgent. It takes time to deliver good infrastructure and we will need it whatever Brexit deal is eventually done. The National Infrastructure Commission has delivered a ready-to-bake assessment, so we should get on. Our strategy should match international best practice, and avoid setting out a list of dis-jointed projects and programmes."
