ICE’s submission to National Infrastructure Commission consultation on electricity interconnection and storage

• The need for government to maintain investor confidence through minimising changes to Electricity Market Reform
• Review the Electricity Act (1989) and its suitability for regulating increased distributed generation and two-way flows
• Removing the barriers to further deployment of electricity storage through exemption from balancing charges, reclassification of licences and modification of Feed in Tariffs
• When considering the creation of an Independent Network Operator, government should examine closely how National Grid operates as an effective ISO in Scotland
