State of the Nation 2013: East Midlands
- Date
- 19 June 2013
As the manufacturing capital of the UK, the East Midlands is a major contributor to the national economy. However, the region has inefficient transport networks: congestion costs £1 billion a year but per capita transport spending is the second lowest in England.
ICE’s East Midlands State of the Nation Transport briefing reviews the current situation and sets out four recommendations to build a more resilient transport network: strategic corridors, promotion of integrated transport, prioritise transport funding and creation of combined authorities.
